Privacy Policy
The short version
- There is no Farm Map account. Your fields, jobs, records, equipment, plans and settings are stored on your phone.
- Your precise location is used on your phone to guide you and record coverage. We don’t receive or store your location history.
- The satellite map is downloaded from Esri, which sees your IP address and the map area being viewed, like any website you visit.
- Subscriptions are handled by Google Play, with RevenueCat managing subscription status. We never see your payment card.
- No advertising SDKs, no selling your data, no tracking across apps.
This policy explains how the Farm Map Android app (“Farm Map”, “the app”), made by Velocity Apps Development (“we”, “us”), handles information. Questions? Email hq@velocityappdevelopment.com.
1. Information stored on your phone
Farm Map has no account and no server of its own. Everything you create in the app is stored on your phone:
- Fields. Field names, boundaries, headland laps and planned pass direction.
- Jobs and the Work Log. The jobs you record, including the path driven, coverage, area, times and dates, and the job in progress with its guidance line.
- Records. Details you add for spray or fertiliser records, such as product, rate, operator and weather notes.
- Equipment, plans and settings. Your implements and widths, job plans, and app settings such as language, units and GPS options.
- Offline maps. Satellite imagery you download for a field.
We cannot see or access this information. Android may include Farm Map’s data in your Google account backup, according to your device’s backup settings; that backup is handled by Google, not by us. If you use Back up now or export a PDF, KML or CSV file, the file goes wherever you choose to save or send it (for example Google Drive or email), under that service’s terms.
2. Location
Farm Map uses your phone’s precise location to show where you are on the map, guide you along your passes and record the ground you’ve covered. This happens on your phone.
While a job is recording, Farm Map keeps recording with the screen off using an Android foreground service, which shows a notification (“Farm Map is recording”) for as long as it runs. Recording stops when you pause or finish the job. Farm Map doesn’t ask for “Allow all the time” background location access.
Your location is stored only as part of the jobs and fields you save on your phone. We don’t receive or store your location history.
3. Satellite imagery
The satellite map is downloaded from Esri’s ArcGIS imagery service, both while you use the map and when you save a field for offline use. Like any web request, this reveals your device’s IP address and the map area being viewed to Esri, which handles it under the Esri privacy policy. No other information is sent with these requests.
4. Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions are bought and processed by Google Play with your Google account. We use RevenueCat to check and manage your subscription status.
| Provider | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play | Your purchase, handled by Google with your Google account | Payments, trials and subscription renewals |
| RevenueCat | An anonymous app user ID, purchase and receipt information, and basic device information (such as device model, operating system and app version) | Checking and managing your Farm Map subscription |
We never receive your payment card details. RevenueCat handles data under the RevenueCat privacy policy, and Google under the Google privacy policy. Neither receives your fields, jobs, records or location from Farm Map.
5. Bluetooth
Farm Map uses Bluetooth (Android’s “Nearby devices” permission) only to connect to a GPS receiver you pick, or to share your phone’s position with your own tablet when you turn on Share GPS with a tablet. That data goes directly between your devices; it doesn’t pass through us.
6. Ratings
After you finish a job, Farm Map may ask for a rating using Google Play’s own in-app review flow. Google handles the review; we don’t learn whether you were asked or what you rated, other than reviews you choose to publish on Google Play.
7. Advertising and tracking
Farm Map contains no advertising SDKs and shows no ads. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
8. Children
Farm Map is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
9. Deleting your data
Farm Map, by Velocity Apps Development, has no accounts. Your fields, jobs and records are stored only on your phone.
To delete the data on your phone:
- Delete a field from its page, or a job from the Work Log, at any time.
- To delete everything, uninstall Farm Map. All fields, jobs, records and downloaded maps are removed with it.
- Backup files you exported stay wherever you saved them until you delete them.
To delete subscription data held by our service providers: email hq@velocityappdevelopment.com with the subject “Farm Map data deletion”. We delete the RevenueCat record linked to your app install (an anonymous ID and your purchase history) within 30 days and confirm by email. Google Play keeps its own record of your purchase, as its privacy policy describes, and we may keep records we’re required to by law, such as for tax.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
